Project Overview

This project introduces a flexible lighting system within an adaptively reused cultural facility, designed to support exhibitions, events, and daily public use. The lighting strategy responds to varying programmatic needs while maintaining visual restraint, ensuring the space can shift between curated displays and open public functions without reconfiguration.
Careful consideration was given to the existing architectural structure and material character. Lighting was integrated to enhance spatial perception and legibility while preserving the integrity of historic surfaces, allowing the architecture to remain the primary visual focus.

Lighting Scope and Applications

The lighting scope covers interior public areas, primary and secondary circulation zones, and key architectural features throughout the facility. The approach addresses exhibition spaces, transition areas, and structural elements, providing adaptable illumination that supports changing uses while maintaining consistent visual comfort, spatial clarity, and respect for the building’s original character.
  • Wall Grazing: Highlights textures and materiality of existing walls.
  • General Ambient Lighting: Provides a balanced base level of illumination.
  • Circulation and Transition Space: Ensures clear orientation.
  • Accent Lighting: Emphasizes artworks, focal elements, and features.
